Once Luke signed his contract, he learned the secret game was the blockbuster title Grand Theft Auto V, and he would play Michael, a middle-aged criminal seeking the traditional family life in the fictional city of Los Santos. "I went immediately after reading the material from 'I'm not doing it" to "nobody else is doing it,'" he says. Then Luke's agent sent over more details on the secret project from its producer: Rockstar Games. "When she called me, I was like, 'I'm not doing a video game,' c'mon," Luke recalls. ![]() Eventually, he traveled to New York for another shot and his agent suggested auditioning for an upcoming video game. Luke took four years off to "figure out if this is really what I want to be doing." At one point, he went back to his hometown of Danville, Ill., to open a restaurant with his brother in 2009. After more than 20 years in the acting business, appearing in small roles for TV shows ranging from All My Children to Law & Order, Ned Luke decided he needed a break.
